Our experience could not have been better- good food and excellent service. Clean and comfortable. Food pricing was more than fair. I am not a huge fan of cheese and actually ordered a dish that had absolutely no cheese. Found it fascinating that the restaurant also offered baked goods. They looked good - but we were both too full to entertain desert. Just visiting San Antonio for a couple days. If I visit again I will definitely return. Good job excelling in a world filled with mostly mediocrity!!!

Nice little lunch at Las Carretas Mexican restaurant. Typical Tex Mex fare (3.5 stars), but this place has a full pan dulce showcase (round up to 4 stars)!
I had the Chile relleno and was surprised to see it come with an enchilada, so a good kind of surprise! Overall great flavor. The rice and beans were also tasty. The chips salsa before the meal were a nice starter.
$6.95 lunch specials included a tea, so a good deal!.

Solid place with a big menu. Nice atmosphere for family dining. I think they have an attached bar but I didn't spend much time there.
I got some burritos for takeout and everything was good. My daughter particularly liked the beans but my focus was the Asada and salsa. I'll definitely be back, next time I plan to try the tacos. -

This place is always busy, but there's room! They have some of the best soup in town! Caldo de res or pollo is served with freshly made corn or flour tortillas, and a side of rice. Each bowl has a big chunk of corn on the cob, zucchini, potato, cabbage and a slice of beef or chicken. The tortilla soup is served in a clear broth, but is very cheesy. When you walk in, just find an open table and seat yourself. They make the tortillas fresh, and also are a bakery. They make their own sweets, cookies, pan dulce and candied squash. CLOSED ON MONDAY.

I used to love coming here and was always here!! Recently the girl that usually rings me up hasn't been there much and the other women that now take my order are so rude. When I walk in she starts restocking straws or salsas and ignores me for a couple minutes then asks for my name and pretends she can't find my order when I see it right there. Then after that she gets it and charges me and always purposely forgets the drink and does not put it unless I bring it up and always rolls her eyes when I ask for my tea or salsa when the basket is empty. She acts so ugly to me when i have been a loyal customer who tips $5-15 for a $7 order TO GO. Today when I went she had my tea ready which I found surprising. When I got in my car after I started eating the tortillas as usual and saw a hair literally wrapped around the tortillas.. and thinking how she actually had my drink ready today I wouldn't doubt she likely spit in it before I got there. I don't care about a refund or anything but Needless to say, I am going to find a New Mexican spot. This place isn't what it used to be.
